This quarters Comeback Athlete Award went to Oconee High School student Marianna Moore, and North Oconee High School students Bembry Smith and Justin Driscoll.

Each season Oconee Physical Therapy and Sports Rehabilitation recognizes student athletes from Oconee and North Oconee High Schools that have overcome significant injuries to return and succeed on the field. The current season winners are:
Mack Parks
Wrestling
Mack Parks, a senior for the Oconee County Warriors, is a wrestler who made it into the final round in the state wrestling championship. He overcame adversity and was able to lead the Warriors to a very successful season. According to Coach Jimmy Herrin, "Mack was faced with a series of setbacks early in the season, however he was able to turn things around and claim several individual area championships and helped his team win their first-ever Area Championship."
Jamie Fullington
Basketball and Football
Jamie Fullington overcame a potentially season ending shoulder injury in football to return to become a starter and important player for the North Oconee Basketball Titans. According to Coach Wilson of the Titans, "We were excited to get Jamie back and he made a difference on the floor and by the end of the season we wanted to keep him on the floor. He did a great job for us."
Bethany
Soccer
Bethany was an endurance Comeback athlete in that she struggled with multiple shoulder injuries and a concussion through her high school years and then sustained a knee injury during her senior year. She was All Northeast Georgia First Team. She had a school record of 15 shutouts and an average of 4 saves per game. She is playing college soccer at the University of Alabama at Huntsville.
Mack Saxon
Baseball
Mack Saxon had a severe injury to his knee that was potentially career ending. He persevered through three knee surgeries and intense rehabilitation to return to play an instrumental role in the North Oconee Titan baseball playoffs. According to Baseball coach Dwayne Sapp, "Mack was a pleasant surprise this year. I figured after his 3rd surgery in 3 years he would probably be lost for the year. He was a real spark plug defensively and his timely hitting in big games was critical. The homerun he hit against Banks Co in the region tournament really got us going toward the championship game."
Zach Mettenberger
Football
The winner of the Warrior Comeback Athlete Award was junior Zach Mettenberger. He overcame two serious injuries to return as the starting Quarterback for the Oconee County High School. He was elected to the Honorable Mention All Northeast Georgia team. He has been offered numerous Division 1 football scholarships
Pilar Harden
Softball
North Oconeeās Pilar Harden, a senior softball player overcame a serious upper extremity injury to pitch successfully in the latter part of the season. Pilar ended up batting .348 with 4 homeruns. She was elected to the first team All-State, All Northeast Georgia and All County teams. Pilar was given a scholarship to play at North Georgia College next year.
Marianna Moore
Soccer
Marianna injured her ACL during her junior year and spent 5 months working very hard in rehabilitation with a goal to return to the field and succeed for her senior year. She learned to walk, run, jump, kick, and play soccer again. She returned to lead the Oconee Warriors as a captain to the Area 8-AAA title and to the Class AAA state semifinals.
Bembry Smith
Tennis
Justin Driscoll
Baseball
Justin had shoulder surgery and worked extremely hard to return as a power hitter, pitcher and outfielder. He was an integral part of the success of the Titan baseball team through the season and the region and state tournaments. Bembry had an ACL reconstruction of the knee and was very dedicated in her rehabilitation and was able to return and play an entire season for the tennis team. She helped with the success of the North Oconee team and ended up on the all-region doubles team.
